FIREFLY, the passive fire protection range from TBA Textiles, unveiled four new products at the Fire Safety Event 2026, held at the NEC in Birmingham from 28 to 30 April. The launches, reported by the International Fire & Safety Journal, extend the company's flexible fire barrier range into construction joints, raised access floors and hard-to-reach installations.
The four new products
FIREFLY Span. Developed for construction joints in walls and floors, Span resists the spread of fire, smoke and sound for up to 60 minutes. It uses an open-celled polyurethane foam impregnated with fire resistant chemicals and bonded with intumescent graphite layers, tested to BS EN 1366-4.
FIREFLY FB180 Raised Access Floor System. Uses ablative batts to deliver up to 240 minutes of protection against flame spread within the voids beneath raised access floors, a common weak point in office and data environments.
Adapted Apollo Lite 30:30. A variant of the existing Apollo Lite barrier for suspended ceiling installations, providing 30 minutes integrity and 30 minutes insulation, tested to BS 476 Part 22.
One-sided mineral wool batt. Designed for restricted-access locations such as hospitals, care homes, plant rooms and heritage properties, where the batt can be cut to shape and installed from a single side.
Why it matters
Passive fire protection is the quiet half of any fire strategy. Correctly specified and installed barriers, seals and batts hold compartment lines, slow the spread of flames and smoke, and buy occupants time to evacuate and firefighters time to respond. With the Building Safety Act putting specification decisions and their evidence trail under far greater scrutiny, products arriving with clear test data to recognised standards make life easier for specifiers and fire engineers alike.
